The second of my dwellings in Oak Park featured an arched entry to what must have been a dining room. It was flanked by -- I don't know what to call them exactly, but they were low part walls topped by (non-load-bearing) columns (or pillars). Maybe I should try to draw this entry from memory for you!
I've decided to use this blog, once strictly my "travel log," as a space to make others comments, on books, music, art, whatever. And of course when I head to London in August I'll make travel posts as well.
