The second charcoal calls to mind the architecture of American elementary schools built in the post-WWII era (such as Cooper and I attended) -- which, later in life, I realized conjured up magazine photographs of East Berlin (and other points east).
I've decided to use this blog, once strictly my "travel log," as a space to make others comments, on books, music, art, whatever. And of course when I head to London in August I'll make travel posts as well.
